So my week long silence on this occasion is due to the fact that Sam and I have been on holday to Madrid! We got back yesterday and had a great time; just what we needed. We rented an apartment in the centre of town which was most convenient. It had kitchen facilities, a DVD player and some (variable) WiFi so we could keep online a little (although FaceBook was forbidden…). The only slight downside was a rather interesting sofa …
Month: March 2010
The guy opposite me is listening to ‘True Faith’ by New Order. I’ll be singing it all day now. "I used to think that the day would never come…" …
Goodness, it’s been over a week since my last blog! After a period of diligent entries I have slipped back in to bad habits. Truth be told, I was going to were last night but sorting out my finances took longer than I thought (it always does) and I needed to have a shower. It has been an eventful week though following from a good day at 8s head. I think I mentioned ny eclair in the last entry so …
So, yesterday was the Women’s Head of the River Race 2010 (WeHoRR) and unlike the doomed Fours Head, this event went ahead and had moderate conditions! We had a very last minute crew change due to illness (Thursday) so it was the first outing of that line-up, with a new stroke none-the-less. We boated from Civil Service which was busy with lots of crews and a really good atmosphere. Our start position was 85 and we went off quite well, …
Bloody British Airways. In fact bloody trade unions. BA Unite members have announced strike dates because they and BA exec have been unable to reach a deal. This would annoy me on a normal week, but this time I am sad to announce the strike dates impact me. I am not happy. BA say they will do as much as they can to keep things running as normal, but details of what will / won’t run won’t be known for …
I got so caught up in my work just now that I have left late and am at risk of missing my train. Argh! I’m on a tube at the mo (this entry, as such, is tine delayed slightly) so hopefully I will make it. Been quite some time since I have completely lost track of time like that! I’m feeling a bit run down today. I have improved as the day has progressed but there are so many people …
To continue my ‘random train observations’ theme, today I was sat near a guy who was listening to Cher very loudly on his iPod. He was only about 30 and really didn’t strike me as a Cher person. Get him and ‘Macho Man’ guy to DJ a disco and it would be a right old chees fest! Not been feeling that great today. Had a headache from when I woke up this morning – in fact before I woke up! …
I am such a simple person; the smallest and simplest things can put me in a good mood. Currently these small things are 1. The new, free, “To Do” list app for my iPhone which allows me to categorise my to-dos in to 3 genres, apply priorities and give completion dates. 2. The fact I checked off all of my To-Dos which had a completion date of last night. 3. That I still have over 20 mins of train journey …
