Cast your minds back to the time before social networking, back to the days where you only used your mobiles for calls and texts and the internet was somewhere you built basic HTML websites to provide information or amusing animations. Yes, it is hard remembering that time, but it did once exist. It was, in many ways, a glorious time because, unlike today, people did not have a way (or indeed feel the need) to share every detail of their …
Month: June 2011
As most people have probably heard at one point or another, London is hosting the Olympics next year, 2012. Billions of pounds of tax payers money is being used to fund it and when you get over the distress of that in the current economical climate (I suppose the recession was not ‘anticipated’ in 2007), most people feel a slight twinge of excitement. As is obvious from my other blog posts, I am a keen rower, so I immediately ‘had’ …
I have read a number of interesting articles this week about blogging and emailing. However, this one about email is the one I find the most interesting! What this guy says is so true. Email once was a really useful commodity – it was really easy to get in touch with people via email, saving the less urgent stuff for post. Of course things have evolved and we are trying to reduce our paper usage. The problem is though that …
Today feels like Monday. In many ways it is: it was my first day at work this week and tonight I am rowing. But, technically it is Tuesday. To quote Brin from the hit BBC comedy ‘Gavin and Stacey’, ‘But I see that as a positive’. For whilst I will probably spend much of the week in a state of confusion about what day it is, the end of my Thursday will in fact be Friday. That can only be …
Before I even start, I want to make it perfectly clear that the two subject matters of this blog are in absolutely no-way related! Unless you count me doing to Twitter integration on day-off due to the L2B related, but I would say the two have really coincided by mere chance rather than any clever planning. But, to the matter(s) in hand…yesterday was the 2011 London to Brighton Bike Ride for the British Heart Foundation. I cycled as part of …
The magic tea worked it’s wonders today and it’s has all-in-all been quite productive. I have mainly been in meetings so have a list of actions as long as my arm. But I have all of tomorrow free to work through them – hurrah! I didn’t feel very tired in the end so I can only assume that I just need rest last night until i eventually nodded off. What’s more, the sun has come out in time for a …
For The Bangles it was Manic, Craig David met a girl and for The Cure it was black and blue whilst they were falling apart and holding their heads. Rebecca Black, well she was so focussed on Friday and the weekend that she didn’t even mention it. Yes, I am talking about Monday. Monday, the word that when uttered can prompt so many reactions – most typically a sigh, sob or a push of the snooze button. Not sure where …
So the RMT are to hold tube strikes AGAIN. This time they are holding 4 strikes staggered over a one week period to cause maximum disruption: two mornings and two evenings. The reason: two drivers were fired, one of which was for abusive behaviour. This particular driver is going to tribunal, which won’t have taken place at the time of the strike. This latest stunt by Bob Crow and his band of loons has left me stunned. How can the …
I have had so many blog thoughts over the last few days but never the time or energy to actually write them. Now I find myself sat here with a spare moment at my laptop and I suddenly find myself lost for words. Damn. Well, never lost for words, but devoid of anything with any meaning! The week seems to be progressing at an acceptable speed this week. I believe the weather is taking it’s toll though – I had …
So I watched The Apprentice last night and it got me thinking about something I think about every year – why would they want to work with him? Now, I would like to state up-front that I am well aware that it is television program and that the primary objective is to entertain. However, I just question why some of these peple would actually want to work with Alan Sugar. Sorry, Lord Sugar. I have often observed that it is …
