The week my brain gave up…

Sitting watching TV yesterday evening, I realised it had been over a week since my last blog post. I’m not one of these people who strives to blog to a schedule but I do try and write something new each week. However, over the last week, during the little free time I’ve had, my brain has struggled to function. Fueled on tea I have had a very productive working week, but that followed by Mummy Duties at home have meant

A week without mobile data – did I cope?!

When I signed up for my contract in November 2014, 500mb of data seemed fine. Through 2015 I was on Maternity Leave so I had WiFi most of every day. Then I went back to work… In February a phone ‘glitch’ meant I used up all my data because Google Play was downloading all and every app update on 4G. Argh. EE to the rescue though – they gave me an extra 500mb for free. Then last Thursday my phone

It’s toddling time – a reminder of how amazing walking is!

It’s official – I am longer the Mum of a baby but of a toddler! Little H has been walking for a good couple of months but always with help, cruising around furniture or, at best, just covering a small number of steps when set off in the right direction. For several weeks it’s been clear she had “the skills” to walk alone but had not developed the confidence. Then, suddenly, after nursery on Thursday she just…went. She let go

At work, at home or wherever you may be…be in the moment!

Have you ever got to work, spent 20 mins browsing Twitter or the BBC News and then had to work at home after dinner because you did get everything you needed to done? Or have you ever watched a TV show whilst playing games on your phone only to suddenly realise the credits are rolling and you didn’t really see any of it? Or hold a conversation with your partner or friend whilst actually playing Candy Crush (which I have

Things to consider if you work with a part-timer

I have been a part-time worker for almost three months now. People working a shorter week had never bothered me in my pre-Motherhood existence and I have anyways found it easy to schedule things in with a bit of thought and planning. I am now experiencing the reactions of others first hand though and it has been quite interesting; Most colleagues are happy to embrace and accommodate my working hours whilst some aren’t bothered by it but just forget my

Why we decided to get a play pen

Towards the end of November, H was approaching 10 months old and getting more active by the day. It was becoming apparent we’d need to do ‘something’ to prevent her from getting her sticky mitts on our audio-visual equipment…and keep her safe from harm etc etc! We sat looking at our nice spacious lounge (we’d just recovered about a square metre by retiring the bouncer!) and pictured it with bars across the TV stand; Bars across the fire place; Bars

The Plight of the Poorly Parent

I’m 14 months in to my Parent role and during that time I have suffered various colds, sore throats and the like*. But on Bank Holiday Monday I was awoken by our lovely small person at 2am. I gave her a drink, some bonjela and popped her down to sleep; I however got back into bed and proceeded to not sleep for over an hour because my head was THROBBING. It literally felt like I had a (small) anvil on
