What we’ve been doing lately #2

SmileyWaker

Today has been a good day. Little Z slept well last night waking only once. Yes, once! I don’t remember when that last happened. Then this morning she was at her happiest only to then nap for 2 and a half hours. Yes, two and a half hours! We went to a local friend’s home for lunch where she played in a different bouncer and mooched about a different floor. Then when we got home she had a feed and went for

When the Control Freak lost control

Before you read the title and think I’ve gone off on some ‘Bad Moms’ type stunt, it’s not that sort of post. As much as it would be amusing to go wild like that* it’s neither in my nature nor something that I’d probably enjoy for long. No, this post is not about throwing my caution to the wind and releasing control. This is about control being yanked brutally away from me by my two young offspring. * The supermarket

Your face

Little H, I was cleaning your teeth the other day when the sun caught your face. It made me cup your face in my hands and turn it up so I could look at you. To really look at one of my favourite faces in the whole world. Your soft young skin and toothpaste round your mouth. Your grey-blue eyes ever scrutinising the world. Your tiny nose wrinkling up as you ask me “What you doin’?”.

What we’ve been doing lately #1

It occurred to me the other day that I have stopped using my blog to simply just record what has been going on in life. Every post now seems to have a ‘topic’ which is fun but I want to be able to look back and remember what the day-to-day was like. So  I’m going to let myself get back to some general diary-esque writing again. Not least because the last few weeks have been a fun yet challenging in

Yep, I’m fine. Thanks for asking.

MeAndTheGirls

I’ve drafted this post a number of times and after a couple of paragraphs I have sat back and wondered where in all the words I lost my point. So I’m going for third time lucky and heading directly to the aforementioned point – I feel like people have forgotten I’ve just had a baby far quicker because it’s my second child. I thought it was just me being a bit overly sensitive but I’ve seen comments on Instagram and

What Little H did – 3.6 years

Hola Little H! I read something earlier this month about “Threenagers” always getting bad press but how, in reality, it’s actually a really fun and hilarious age. It made me sit back and realise how the anger and tantrums have subsided a bit now and, when they do happen, how I’ve got much better at dealing with them (or ignoring them completely until you regulate your own mood, which you are getting much better at!). The majority of the time

Okay, now I’m tired.

I’m taking my blog back to where it started with this one – a post which is just a stream of conscious thought rather than something I read and check. There won’t be any photos or links. I just need to brain dump and do it quickly because I’m shattered and I want to go to bed. And feeling tired is the reason I need to write. Because as we approach 5 months into this dual parenting malarkey, I’m now

It’s too hot in here! Waaaay too hot.

Summer Ice Cream Treat

At some point in June, the weather forecasters started talk of a ‘heat wave’. They say that every year, right. But this time some hot temperatures did actually appear. Even I was fairly happy to see them and we enjoyed not needing a jacket, the relaxed outside dinners and watching a film inside in the cool whilst the peak of the day passed. But then the days just kept coming and coming. Then the temperature kept creeping up and up.

What Little H did – 3.5 years

AwesomeOutfit

Oh H, you are getting smarter, funnier and more argumentative by the day. But there is so much going on I find myself laughing or in awe at what you do only to forget too minutes later. This list would be so much longer if my brain didn’t keep leaking memories! You’re really making us laugh now though. And you can be really helpful too – bringing things, picking things up. Often without being asked as well. But if we

My new love of ‘babywearing’

CabooSleep

When I was pregnant with Little H we did NCT antenatal classes. During one of ‘post natal’ training sessions, we were talked through slings and carriers that would allow us to carry our baby upon our person rather than in our arms or putting them in a buggy. At the time I wasn’t really sure when I would wish to do that but we decided to get a carrier anyway – the NCT Close Caboo. Little H arrived and whilst
