Blog Post 02-05-2011

We went on a bike ride this morning, a usual route for us that we haven’t done much yet this year: The Great North Way, going north. It wasn’t one of our most relaxing cycles. My gears were playing-up, it was really windy (cycling in to a head wind every other turn) and, most annoyingly, there were loads of cars, horses and pedestrians out on the winding country roads

Usually the GNW route is really quite quiet. You get the odd car now and then but today was positively chocka. My only conclusion is that, having had 8 days off in the space of 11, people have got all of the random DIY & chores done. So, today everyone is off out and about doing other things. I suppose in a general sense, it is nice that people get to use at least one of the days to do whatever they like. But it did hinder our cycle somewhat. Although, our hearts weren’t fully in it mind. Still, 17 miles in the wind when you don’t really fancy it isn’t something to sniff at. And there were some big hills!
