St Neots

It was St Neots regatta yesterday and I was racing in a WS2 8+.  I thought it was my first race in an 8+ but it seems I had forgotten about Wallingford in May .  There was only one other crew entered though so it turned out to be a straight final against Barnes Bridge Ladies just before 5pm.  It was nice not to have to get up at stupid o’clock to get there for a race!   Sam and his parents also came to watch which was nice.  They took the camping chairs and settled by the river to watch and enjoy the hot weather.

We didn’t win, but I believe we only lost by a length / length and a half.  Afterwards the Barnes Bridge cox came over to help us land and congratulate us on a good row.  Apparently we really un-nerved their stroke girl when they saw our practice start because we were so together!  I was quite pleased really because it’s a very high rating crew and I normally struggle but yesterday I think I got fairly good clearance with my blade for a change.  Sam took some pictures so will have to see if they show me anything!

The weather is so nice this weekend though, really really hot.  In fact yesterday was verging on too humid and we were all sweating away at the start line.  I’m feeling very chilled out today though and have very little desire to do anything!
