They’ve finally arrived!

The Olympics – yay!  I have just been watching the highlights of the first day of rowing heats and I have forgotten how much I enjoy watching international rowing!  The heat of the M4- had me shouting at the TV .  Team GB had quite a good first day from what I have seen.  Alan Campbell got through to the semis of the men’s single skulls and, the aforementioned men’s coxless four also won their heat.  The women’s double skulls pair didn’t win their heat but got through to the repecharge.  I am looking forward tomorrow because the lightweight men’s double are racing; they are hoping to do well!

Unfortunately my personal rowing fortunes have not been so good.  We were racing in WS3 8+ at Peterborough Summer today.  We didn’t get through out heat and the weather was far from summery.  It was raining and windy which made the water horrible and choppy.  I don’t do well on choppy – I struggle with my hand-heights at high ratings and that’s the key to coping with choppy water.  I really really need to work on that over winter, especially if I want to survive head races!
