So I was delighted to see a tweet from the lovely Lucy at Home earlier this week, nominating me for The Blogger Recognition Award. I love Lucy’s blog and I am a huge fan of the new linky she runs with Wendy from Naptime Natter – #BlogCrush. I was really excited to be nominated and that Lucy thought of me when compiling her list of nominations!
A massive thank you to you Lucy for the nomination and for reading the posts I share!
Lucy has some great advice in her own ‘The Blogger Recognition Award’ post so I’m going to have to try my damned hardest to come up with something good too! Let’s see what I manage…
Before I go any further, here are the rules:
•• Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
•• Write a post to show your award.
•• Give a brief story of how your blog started.
•• Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
•• Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
•• Comment on each blog and let them know you have nominated them and provide the link to the post you created.
Where did ‘Life, Motherhood and Everything’ come from?
‘Life, Motherhood and Everything’ the ‘brand’ is less than a year old. However, the website it has evolved from is something I set-up in 2006 under the name ‘angelajcook.com’. Originally I built it to learn how to write HTML, CSS and code in PHP. Then in 2007 I self-built some blogging functionality. In fact, I have recently celebrated my 10 year blogging anniversary!
For years and years I just waffled away on my blog with minimal readers. I enjoyed the writing though so I decided integrate WordPress into my website in 2012. It was one of the best decisions I made because it’s so easy to use.
After Little H was born, my blog became my outlet for, well, everything. I struggled adapting to not working so my blog filled that void and has never gone away. The more I wrote and shared my posts, the more I realised I wanted a more appropriate name. So I rebranded and ‘Life, Motherhood and Everything’ was born. That love of blogging and engaging with the blogging community has never left. Now, somehow, I manage to just about squeeze in a bit of blogging alongside going to work and looking after my cheeky toddler!
My two pieces of blogging advice
•• Do what is right for you! – There are a lot of amazing bloggers out there. It’s so easy to try and imitate what others are doing. Before you know it, you’re chasing goals and projects that aren’t ‘you’. So decide what your blog means to you and stay true to that. If you want to make money then do sponsored posts etc. If you just want to write, then write whatever you feel like and share it.
•• Expect the unexpected – You can spend hours curating a post which you are certain everyone will love. But whilst you get some comments it’s nothing out of the ordinary. Then you’ll bosh out a post that is just a dump of emotions or experiences and that will be the one that gets lots of attention. That’s what happened to me on the few occasions I have been awarded a ‘Feature’ post. The morale of the story: you can’t predict what’s going to happen so just go with it!
And I nominate…
I am a huge fan of the following 15 bloggers. I have come across their blogs over the last 12 months through a mix of linkys and Instagram. I love reading their posts and following their Instagram feeds.
I can’t wait to hear their answers…
Ladies – you are all awesome and I nominate you for The Blogger Recognition Award!
