Every month I try to post my ‘Five Favourite Finds’ for the month. They can be absolutely anything new that I have come across. The challenge: making sure I find five each month. Some months really do prove tougher than others but there is lots of fun had in the search. I’m using it to try encourage myself to find new things and also share my finds with you all to save you the leg work! So without further ado and in no particular order…
One: Green People Organic Children Sticky Hand Sanitiser
Toddlers will pick-up anything and everything and H is no different. She’ll often put things in her mouth too so I try not to be overly precious about wiping her hands. But if she’s been around animals or something particularly filthy then I like to clean her hands before she eats. Normal hand sanitiser typically has alcohol in it and I don’t want to use that on her gentle skin. Then I read about this Green People sanitiser which parents really rated. They were right, it’s fantastic. It smells nice, doesn’t dry the skin (so even great for me as I’m prone to eczema) and comes out as a foam so H can rub it on her hands herself!
Two: My small vintage-style plant pots (and the awesome succulents in them)
There is a little shop in Hertford near where live called The Oak Room. I discovered it earlier this year because they had some succulents outside the shop. It is now one of my favourite shops with it’s vintage and quirky products. So when I was in there a couple of weeks ago I couldn’t resist these cute plant pots which have a real 60s feel to them. (I also succumbed to the succulents too!)
Three: Bouncy Parrot Mobile
This is another The Oak Room purchase. H loves birds. So when I was in there paying for my plant pots, I spied this little dude. He’s made completely of wood (so is quite heavy) but he’s just adorable with his big eyes. H thinks he’s great and (because we haven’t hung him up properly yet) likes to bounce him around if she gets hold of him; We try and avoid that to spare the floor / our feet / her eyes!
Four: Bird Nest Key Holder
This is actually a present from a few years ago, although you can still buy it. The two little birds are key rings (and whistles as well incidentally). We never had a place to use it and forgot about it as it sat on a shelf as decoration. But after months of leaving some heavily used keys chucked in a pot, we put this little gem up and now are keys are both accessible and attractive!
Five: Brio Mini Caterpillar
Another gift, this time for H, this little Brio Caterpillar is incredibly cute and very well made. Our house has far more garish plastic floating around than I would like. But wooden toys aren’t always as practical, tend to cost more and inflict more damage when dropped or thrown. We do have a few lovely pieces though and this just complemented the collection. The wheels are plastic (although that means they run smoothly and don’t scratch the floor) but the body is a lovely light and smooth wood. I think I like this little chap even more than H!
