Five Favourite Finds #7

FiveFavouriteFindsEvery month I share my ‘Five Favourite Finds’ for the month. They can be absolutely anything new that I have come across. The challenge: making sure I find five each month. Some months really do prove tougher than others but there is lots of fun had in the search. I’m using it to try encourage myself to find new things and also share my finds with you all to save you the leg work! So without further ado and in no particular order…

One: MissPrint Little Trees Rug

rug

Our new house (well we moved in last autumn) has no carpets downstairs. Aside from my flat in Spain during third year of Uni, I have always had carpet and I’ve missed it. There are pros to wood flooring, especially with a dribbling, milk spilling, crumb dropping toddler. But our little tootsies were getting cold watching telly so we decided – we need a rug! We tried various shops but eventually discovered our local JL had a tonne. Picking a rug is tough but we were drawn to this awesome tree pattern. We’re not usually people to go for bold patterns…which for us this is. But we’ve had it a few days and are really chuffed with it. It looks great, seems hard wearing, keeps our feet warm and is providing H with endless rolling-around amusement!

Two: Leuchtturm1917 Purple A5 Dotted Notebook

leuchtturm1917

I bought this notebook last month but I only started using it at the start of November. My previous bullet journal notebook was not up to scratch but this notebook has definitely been worth the investment. The quality of the notebook is fantastic, with great quality paper and tough bindings. I have been carrying it around in my shoulder bag all month and the exterior is barely worn. I also love the dots rather than lines. But the beauty of the notebooks is the paper and colours are customisable, so if you prefer a red notebook with lines… A little more expensive than a Moleskine but I think I’ll definitely be getting another one when this is complete.

Three: Fitbit One

Fitbit

I got a Fitbit One for Christmas in 2013. Aside from 2 weeks after giving birth (and the odd day when I forgot to put it on) I wore it everyday. I loved having it as a little motivator. Then mid-November, disaster! During a rainy trip to town where we trekked everywhere, I lost it. NOOOOO. I was genuinely upset. I noticed walking to the car as H was splashing in puddles. I debated going back to look for it but it’s 1cm x 3cm and black. It wasn’t going to happen. So Sam came to my rescue and got me new one. Husband win!

Four: Kératase Elixir Ultime Versatile Beautifying Oil

elixir-ultime

I bought some Kératase shampoo and conditioner at the hairdresser at the start of the month. I got a ‘free’ gift with it and it was this serum or some heat protective spray. The serum bottle looked like better value for money so I went with that. I’m really glad I did. Just 1 – 2 tiny pumps applied to my hair when damp have left it feeling super soft. I will absolutely buy some of this when I run out of the sample. It’s not cheap but you need to use so little (I’ve used less than a quarter of the sample bottle over the month) that I think it’s definitely worth the investment.

Five: Toddler Trespass Jacket and Waterproof Trousers

trespass-coat-and-trousers

I bought H a nice fluffy winter coat from Next which is so adorable. She also had a waterproof jacket. But I realised she was lacking a warm waterproof coat for when she was playing outdoors during the winter. She is also not confident climbing downstairs still so she will bum-shuffle to the edge and climb down…getting a wet bottom in the process. So I popped to the nearby outlet centre where there are lots of outdoor shops. I struck gold in the Trespass shop founding some waterproof over-trousers reduced to £11, including a storage pouch. I was then lured in by the mini ski jackets. I opted for this water and wind proof ski jacket. At £35 it wasn’t super cheap but should last her until next winter as it’s too big for her right now. It’s got a warm lining, but not something that will cause her to get too hot. We’ve tested it out on rainy walks and she’s been cosy and kept bone dry. The trousers have also proved a success at nursery…she’s managed to come home in the same trousers the last two weeks. Hurrah!

    • They are beautiful. It’s one of my favourite ever notebooks and I am astounded by how robust it is proving to be. Worth the extra few pounds. Thanks for reading x

  • The fitbit one is great, I have now upgraded to the fitbit blaze. The purple notebook looks great too.

    • Hope you are enjoying the Blaze! I really love my ‘nice’ watch for work and on my SAHM days I wear my polar watch as it’s sufficiently robust if Little H gets her hands on it. Def. recommend the notebooks! Thanks for reading x

  • Ah go hubby what a superstar! I have toyed with a fitbit but never actually taken the plunge, I take it is worth it then? I have seen a lot of these water proofs about too, I think I need to invest for muddy puddle days, of which I am sure there will be plenty! thanks for sharing at #familyfun

    • I find my fitbit a really great way of just keeping my activity level in check. If I’m feeling lazy, having a lower step count will often encourage me out the door. I’m not a slave to it, certainly not now with Little H. But given I can’t properly exercise like I used to, knowing I get some reasonable steps in is important to me! Would recommend one for sure.

The wet gear is great. Now I don’t care if the slide is grubby becausw I can just wipe the wet clothes down!

      Thanks for reading x

  • Think I need to try that hair serum! We too have Trespass waterproofs, they are so handy to have! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next Sunday x

  • I love the notebook and the Trespass jacket – my Toddler H has just got a lovely thick jacket to replace her fleecy Next jacket. I think it’s much warmer, however, she really needs some warm waterproof over trousers too, so I’ll check out Trespass again (as I wasn’t sure last time I looked!) #kcacols

    • Would definitely recommend as a cheap and basic option. They have coped with general ‘playground’ antics at nursery and the park really well. I’m always wary of sending expensive things to nursery but with these if something happens I’ll get some new ones. Thanks for reading x

  • Oh that rug is gorgeous! I have been toying with the idea of a bullet journal but I just don’t think I could do it justice.

    • Thanks! We’re so pleased with it. It’s made the room so much cosier. Give bullet journalling a try if you’re interested in it. It only needs to be what you make of it. It took me 3 months to refine my approach. Now I have a set up that’s working well so far. I’ve forgotten far less! Thanks for reading xx

  • Fab roundup – I need to get my toddler a waterproof jacket too, and that one looks brilliant. Thanks for linking up to #dreamteam x
