I have kept a Gratitude Journal since the start of 2016. Over that year it made a MASSIVE difference to my mental attitude; I now more naturally see the positive in things. My blog is a place to share thoughts and opinions. But more than that, it’s a place I record life so I can look back in the future and remember how things were. Whilst I will always have my private journals, I also decided to take a leaf out the books of other bloggers and create a monthly gratitude feature. Here’s what I am grateful for this month:
•• At the start of June, Little H and I went to Chepstow to spend the weekend with my friend Helen, her daughter and our friend Jenny who drove down for Leeds. They are two of my oldest friends who I wish I could see more than I do. Whilst the drive was a lot on my own, it was lovely to spend some time with them and for the girls to play.
•• After our weekend away, Little H and I had a normal Monday together. After so many Bank Holiday weekends and our Wales trip, it felt like forever since we’d had a normal day together and I loved it.
•• I took 3 days off work to decorate the dining room whilst Little H was at nursery. I am so pleased with the result! This is the first ‘proper’ room in the house I’ve decorated and it’s brought a personal element to the downstairs.
•• Sam’s parents stopped by on the second day I was decorating. Whilst I was busy, Sam’s Mum cut all of the big shrubs in the garden. It would have taken me weeks to get it all done myself!
•• Our small patch of potatoes are thriving. I’m hoping we’ll get a reasonable crop!
•• The tomatoes are also out in their grow bags and shooting-up fast. I am also incredibly proud of my cane support construction this year #gardenerpride
•• My Dad came down to stay for a couple of days and he treated more of our fence that he started last year. Most excitingly, he did the side gate which has been given a new lease of life now.
•• We had a lovely time in the garden during the heat wave weekend, even though none of us cope well with heat!
•• It was my birthday – seems to roll round faster each year now – and I got some lovely gifts from Sam and Little H.
•• We also went out for a lovely lunch the Saturday before at Zizzi. Little H was a gem and behaved really well.
•• I spent some of my birthday monies from my Dad on some lovely new plants. I especially love my alstroemerias which I’ve wanted to get for the last couple of years.
