Yet another void of time in which I forgot about my blog. I can only assume it is because of the lovely weather we have had recently; I just haven’t had the inclination to sit inside at the weekend or in the evenings when I could be outside. On the plus side though, our garden is looking really good now. Sam’s potatoes are flourishing – just waiting for them to flower so we can harvest our first crop! – and I have lots of courgette, cucumber and french dwarf bean plants growing on our spare room window. I also have some little basil seedlings and some peppers in the conservatory.
One of my less fun jobs in the garden has been declaring war on the slugs. They are everywhere living under our tree off-cuts that act as border ‘definition’! I think I am going to have to buy some clear wood treatment and make the things water proof so that it’s not such a nice place to hide. I have put lots of sand and gravel down though.
Rowing has been busy too. So far I have done two regattas – the first was Wallingford on the 2k stretch at Dorney lake – where the Olympics will be held. That was a fairly big regatta, even ex-Olympians were racing! We didn’t win, but we did well considering the competition. Last Saturday was Bedford – a much smaller affair on-par with Durham. It didn’t go well. I shall say no more.
On a happy note though, I got my PB 2k erg time yesterday – 7:56.2. Only my second one and I have broken 8 mins – yipee!!!!
