I’ve had to make one of those horrible decisions today; the type where you want to do something but know it’s for the best if you don’t. Despite knowing that, if doesn’t make the decision any easier to deal with 🙁

Time is going so fast at the moment and work is so busy. Yet, when I get home, I occasionally find myself at a loose end, like tonight, where I have lots I want to do but not the energy to it. I would love to sit down and do some good web dev stuff (many ideas floating in my head), but I just cannot face sitting in front of the computer again. I have booked this Friday off as a Me-Day. Sam will be going to work but I might see if I can get him to get ready in the spare room. Then I can have a bit of a snooze. Might do an eeg and then vegetable on the sofa. I also want to go up to town (WGC not London) and get some clothes including the dreaded Dinner Dance outfit. That should leave me with a good afternoon to some computer based stuff, should I fancy! Oh the possibilities are endless. No doubt I will get up later than planned, flop, get bored in town and end up watching TV 😉

Every time I have something to say, I don’t have the time or signal to write it.  When I am sat on my computer with some time to kill, I cannot think of what to write.  It’s quite chilly tonight – winter is heading our way.  I was going to do some web-dev work.  But, don’t think I can be bothered with that.  Might have a cuppa (yes, I know it’s a bit late for caffine but…) and a bit of fruit cake.  Yummy!

Time seems to be going so quickly at the moment. It is infuriating because I never seem to get everything I need to done! Perhaps it is a sign that I am trying to do too much…although life would be dull I suppose if I always had everything sorted. It would be nice to get to a level playing field now and then though. We were up in Leeds this weekend though and it has been a whole week since Sam and I came back from visiting Carol in Paris! I can’t believe it. Now we’re on the downhill to so many big things I can’t believe it. Only about 36 working days now until my project goes live at work. *Shudder*

Just to confuse myself and everyone, yet another day has occured where I am posting twice!  I just felt the need to after a rather productive evening.  I was feeling rather swamped by information earlier today but since Sam was out, I decided to have an admin night.  I have done many things:

  1. Washing
  2. Taken clothes to the dry cleaners
  3. Made dinner
  4. Placed rowing club entries for Cambridge Autumn regatta
  5. Done some rowing email admin
  6. Emailed a couple of friends
  7. Done squad outing plan for Saturday

I now need to go and do the washing up and then make my list of outstanding wedding tasks and I shall go to bed feeling relatively calm – in theory!  Also, to continue the food theme from earlier, top notch dinner of mash, veg and gravy with nut roast.  Nut roast wasn’t too nice (frozen jobby) but mash was yummy!  Good times.

Blimey, I just re-read my last blog and I was clearly in a very "woe is me" mood that day! 🙂  Yes, I remember, I was in a bad place on Wednesday morning – in fact most of the day.  Fortunately for all, my mood improved again by Thursday!  I am feeling quite weary today but it is a lovely day.  Sam and I cycled through to Ware and met Lou and Graham for a cycle.  We all cycled back to Hertford and had some lunch and then through to WGC.  Lou and I Graham then had to make their return trip whilst Sam and I went home.  We watched "Bridge to Terabithia" which someone had lent Sam.  It is such a lovely film, but a bit sad.  Made me forget what day it was for a while though – love it when films/books/tv does that!

Why is it that when you think you are just getting on top of things, life dumps a whole load of rubbish on you again?! It is always the way, every time. I think it is the fact that, if you try and be helpful, eventually it just becomes expected and people want you to give that bit more… It is like that at work, rowing, home. Everywhere. That all sounds very self-obsessed I know, but damn it, this is my blog so I will be. I know life is about give or take, but it is just upsetting when you have to continually battle to do the things you would like to do.

I’m just watching the semis of Celebrity Master Chef. Their second task has been to cook lunch for the 800 pupils at Harrow School. Several things during the task amused me:

  • The posh accents and eccentric hair-dos of the rich-kid boys;
  • The chicken needed to be marinated in a catering version of a black bin;
  • The Lamb Rogan Josh had to be stirred with a spade;
  • Outside the canteen, there were racks for the boys to put their boater hats over lunch!

Ah how the other half live!

I have been meaning to blog all week but, somehow, something has always got in the way and I never got round to it.  I was going to say I never have time, but I am trying to use that phrase less because, typically, it’s not true.  I was reading the free Stylist magazine this week and it was an article in there that made me realise this.  The writer essentially made the point that whilst she assumed a culture change and more work had her working lingers hours, it was in fact her ability to be distracted by the internet.  One day she put her Out Of Office on and shut down Twitter, Facebook etc and she said she got loads done!  I fear I am a bit like that, although I have a fairly good awareness of when I use these sites (and do work related reading from them) and am much better now at defining my clear objective for the computer session; my blog just didn’t make it there this week!

Anyhow, enough of that and on to something of vague interest.  Sam an I were back to work this week but both of us were on a course for the early part which has made the week seem both long but also go fast!  I was in a very good mood still on Monday after Lou and I lost our sculling Novices at St Neots in the double on Saturday! St Neots delivered another blinder of a day and, despite me having five back to back races, we won our final by two lengths against Barnes Bridge Ladies by two lengths.  We had a close shave in the semis though, beating Sudbury by half a canvas! Eeek. When we had crossed the line, all four of us sat waiting to hear the result because we didn’t know!  Pictures are on Revado.

Anyway, I could probably go on for longer about many things for a while but it would get dull and I’m also nearly at Finsbury Park and want to read some of my magazine.  Laters.

To continue my ‘random train observations’ theme, today I was sat near a guy who was listening to Cher very loudly on his iPod. He was only about 30 and really didn’t strike me as a Cher person. Get him and ‘Macho Man’ guy to DJ a disco and it would be a right old chees fest!

Not been feeling that great today. Had a headache from when I woke up this morning – in fact before I woke up! I went for a moderate run instead of having a hard core training sesh and have just had a really relaxing bath. Hopefully tomorrow will be headache free.
