It’s been a very long time since I’ve done a ‘Room 101’ post and this one, I’ll admit, is very specific. But it’s been a long time coming because, being at full term now, I can confidently say that heartburn has been one of the biggest irritants of the entire pregnancy. I’ve had some quite painful hip issues as well, but heartburn is a persistent little b*gger, regardless of what you do or eat. It’s a bit late for me …

Every year, when we reach New Year’s Eve, something starts which makes me shudder – people make ‘New Year’s Resolutions’. Someone who only drives everywhere and spends their whole day sat at a desk or on the sofa will suddenly declare they will, from January 1, be ‘going to the gym every day’; The person who has a McDonalds for lunch no-less than several times a week will vow themselves to a life of absolute vegetarianism from the moment the …
It’s been a while since I have done a ‘Room 101’ post, mainly because I was trying to grumble less (me being me, I haven’t done well and have just grumbled more verbally to people / myself instead). But something has happened to the British nation in the last fortnight which has prompted me to revive the ‘Room 101’ posts: they have all been hit my ‘Christmas Craziness’. I am typing whilst working from home, safely tucked away from the …
It’s pointless. If you’ve started turning then we have usually worked that out by the fact you have almost run us over. Either indicate in advance of the turn or just don’t bother! …
It is the middle of March and it is snowing. SNOWING! Perhaps I shouldn’t be so surprised but last week we were almost in spring, or so we thought. It was just starting to feel milder and get lighter in the morning. Then, BAMN, this week it got cold again, the wind picked up and then this morning I look out to see flakes of the white stuff falling. Typical when I am back in an early morning crew at …
As a commuter, I hit this frustration day-in, day-out: people dawdling along the street because they are on their phone. Yes, you can argue this is the point of a mobile. But I’m not sure I have much tolerance for that argument. It’s bad enough having to try and nip past someone who is walking at a continually varying speed because they are chatting – at least you can see they are on the phone though. But what really, really …
I am a routine cyclist, driver and pedestrian. As a result, I try to take an unbiased view in the oh-so-common ‘tiff’ that exists between the three groups. However, whichever camp I am in, I always seem to come off on the worse side. When I cycle, cars and (more recently and prompting this post) vans cut me up and seem to feel general ‘rights of way’ do not cover cyclists. So, if I feel nervy / I’m tired / …
Sam and I are regular watchers of the BBC programme Room 101. I love seeing all the things the guests want to put in Room 101 but I always get to thinking about what I would put in there. So I have decided to start my own ‘Room 101’ themed blog posts, where I put things which bug me in to my own personal Room 101. I shall of course, stick to a ‘wildcard’ topic, unless theming with the show! …
