30 Days Blogging – Day 7: My plans, dreams and goals

30daysblogging7

I’ll confess now that I thought this Blogging Challenge would be quick way of getting some more blog content. But I was wrong. It’s really making me use my brain to answer some of these and looking forward they only get more challenging. Plans, goals and dreams is quite tough. I’ve always had aims but never strict plans. Also, there are a few things which I will always keep private, even from the blogging community. Sorry! However, there are things

¡Cuidado libro Español, voy a leerte!

I have been a bit slack at working on my Spanish over the last, erm, few years. It’s something which I know I can call on if I need to but, frankly, it has got a bit more rusty than I am happy about. I feel very fortunate to be able to speak a second language to a level of moderate fluency and always feel guilty for not given it the attention I feel it deserves. Before Christmas I pulled

What would my year abroad be like today?

As mentioned in a previous post, we recently went to stay with a friend in Paris. She moved out there just over a year ago and it was interesting to see how she had settled in. Unlike some of my other friends who live abroad in foreign speaking countries, she did not do a language degree or year abroad, so this was her first experience of living outside of the UK. Whilst we were there, we were routinely online using

¿Donde está mi nave?

For the observant / film buffs amongst you, you will recognise that as a line from the infamous Toy Story 3. Poor Buzz has been switched to Spanish Mode and for a few precious minutes, some of my most favourite moments in film history take place. His questioning about the whereabouts of his spaceship, followed by his exclaim “¡El Vaquero!” when Jessie is over-joyed to see Woody just make me chuckle and want to jump on board a plane to

Ouch

My muscles are all aching from my training yesterday!  I was a bit achey this morning and then some major abdominal pain kicked in mid-afternoon when I was sat quietly at my desk.  It was most inconvinient!  It’s now moving to my lower body.  Is it bad to have two proper ‘soak’ baths in a week?! I’m in a bit of a Spain phase at the moment so I is passing the even’ watching my favourite Spanish film – A

Never enough time.

Walking home today, I realised that there is never enough time to do everything I want to do.  The reason I thought of that is I overheard someone talking Spanish somewhere on my way to Kings Cross.  I never practice my Spanish these days; not, in fact, since I finished my course in June last year.  It always feels a bit like a fruitless exercise when I rarely go there.  In some ways, trying to keep it up whilst here

The end of the weekend

I can’t believe it’s Sunday night -the weekend has gone so fast, and we had Friday off! Seems to be the way of things, especially when Monday holds in store something you’re not looking forward to. Yes, tomorrow is the day of my…Spanish exam – duh duh duh! It is actually, if we’re being honest, the second part of my Spanish exam because we had the oral exams last week. Tomorrow is the listening, writing and grammar exams which unfortunately

Sleepy

Even after a really long sleep, I’m still shattered! It was a really busy week last week and now I think I’m feeling the effects. Last Saturday we went off house-hunting again, as I think I mentioned, and saw a couple of houses that we liked. Anyway, we decided to arrange viewings for Tuesday night so we could get the train up and walk to them both. So, Sam arranged said viewings and we tried to forget about them both

Sunshine

It looks like summer might finally be making an appearance. We’ve just got up and opened the curtains and the sun came pouring in – yay! I also slept pretty well last night, especially compared to the terrible night I had on Thursday (getting woken up at 4am by rowing neighbours!). However, I did have a semi-bad dream about someone telling me my Spanish was awful. Perhaps it’s my brain telling me to do some revision this weekend for my
