As 2011 reached it’s end, I decided to write an end of year post which reflected back on the highs and lows of the last 12 months. Since then, it has become a personal tradition to write and publish my “That was the year that was” post on 31 December every year. More than anything, this post is a personal opportunity to look back as a year a draws to a close. 2016 has been another life changing year with my Maternity Leave reaching it’s an end, seeing me become a working mum. Little H has changed beyond belief in the last 12 months and is rapidly approaching the big 2. It’s been a whirlwind of a year but a fantastic one.
Thank-you to everyone who has taken the time to read and comment on my blog. I have loved hearing your thoughts and feedback on what I’ve written. I am extremely grateful that you all spare your valuable time to stop by. I have also enjoyed reading all of the wonderful posts you have written this year! I can’t wait for some more fantastic reads throughout 2017. I wish you all a very Happy New Year!
But 2016 isn’t over until it’s over. So let’s dive right in…
2015 has been another challenging year, but more for happy reasons that sad, especially when compared against last year. Whilst the losses of 2014 are still very much felt, the arrival of H at the start of the year brought a bit of sunshine back in to life again. It’s pushed me to many extremes but it’s ultimately been a wonderful year so here is the summary!
2014 has, without a doubt, been a very difficult year for personal reasons as mentioned in my previous post. Whilst my blog has been quiet since the summer (I have struggled to find the enthusiasm and material to post) things have been going on, so I still want to capture a summary of the year. Sometimes life throws unexpected and horrible things in your path but you just have try to deal with them and carry on…
So another year has gone by and more so than ever before, it feels like it has flown by. Following last year’s structure, I have broken the year-up by month and called out the top highlights (of varying degrees of interest!) for each. I decided to start this entry with a new section though – some ‘Of the Year’ callouts – it’s the sort of information you quickly forget and I wish I had for the last 4+ years, but better-late-than-never in starting to capture this stuff! As always, this is a long blog post, but it would have made for a dull year if it wasn’t.
Yes, it is that time of year again, year end. That can only mean one thing, my annual review of the year! Let’s see if I can successfully save this one though after last year’s over-writing disaster! This year the format is slightly different – hopefully makes it easier to see the break-up of events over the year.
It is currently 29/04/2012. I migrated my blog to wordpress a couple of weeks ago and in doing so had to migrate all of my posts. It got me flicking through a few to check the integrity of them. Whilst doing that yesterday I noticed that my original summary had been over-written by the subsequent blog post. I cannot recall this happening and can only put it down to a coding defect in my original blog (proves the benefit of moving!). Sadly I have not got anything containing the original. So I have pieced together a simple picture summary from my original photos. Not quite the same, but hey-ho. Enough to enjoy in years to come!
