Blog Post 14-03-2010

So, yesterday was the Women’s Head of the River Race 2010 (WeHoRR) and unlike the doomed Fours Head, this event went ahead and had moderate conditions!  We had a very last minute crew change due to illness (Thursday) so it was the first outing of that line-up, with a new stroke none-the-less.  We boated from Civil Service which was busy with lots of crews and a really good atmosphere.  Our start position was 85 and we went off quite well,

Gone for another year

So, eight’s head has now been and gone again!  I can’t believe it was only yesterday – it seems like so long ago now.  Despite this being my second year doing it, I can remember very little.  I’m in two minds about the race.  When we finished, I felt moderately happy in the sense that I held it together at a higher rating and felt like I was putting down pressure the whole time.  Sadly the results weren’t so good,

In the dawn…

Tomorrow morning is 8s head!  I can’t believe it’s a whole year since I last did it.  I’m not feeling the same nerves I did last year.  Last year I was almost sick with nerves; I remember I struggled to get to sleep and slept really badly.  This year the nerves are there, but I don’t feel nauseous.  Well, I do a little, but that’s mainly because I at quite a lot of dinner and then had a manic jump

grumble grumble

Yesterday really was one of those days. Despite having had a good long sleep on Saturday night / Sunday morning, the drained feeling I had all of Sunday carried over into yesterday. It made for a very disappointing start to the week. I was little frustrated yesterday too because it seems like our eight’s head crew can’t go out again until Saturday. It’s just over a week until WHORR now and I’m getting rather nervous. My contribution to the Saturday
